The Conversation Board" is an innovative game designed to spark meaningful discussions about climate change, potential interventions, and the diverse perspectives involved in urban planning. Players take on the roles of a public transit company, a developer, an environmental NGO, a local resident, and a local government, each with their own set of goals and constraints, outlined on individual cards.
As the game progresses, players draw challenge cards that present real-world scenarios, requiring them to collaborate and negotiate solutions that balance their differing priorities. The game features a large box containing three transparent, stackable maps that depict an area in its current state, its historical condition, and projected flood risks for the year 2100. Using these maps as a reference, players strategically place game pieces representing housing, levees, marshlands, roads, and floating dwellings.
The game concludes when players successfully build a new area that addresses both present needs and future challenges, making "The Conversation Board" a dynamic tool for exploring the complexities of climate resilience.
