Vilsted Hiking Trail introduces two thoughtfully designed hiking trails, offering nature enthusiasts a variety of unique experiences.
The local 2.5 km trail takes hikers on an immersive journey through nature, beginning with a unique rope ferry crossing over a scenic stream. The trail continues with a boardwalk that elegantly traverses a vibrant wetland, allowing for close observation of the area’s diverse flora and fauna. A viewpoint along the trail provides stunning panoramas, perfect for capturing the natural beauty of the surroundings. This shorter trail serves as a gateway to further adventures, seamlessly connecting to the renowned national trail, Hærvejen.
Extending the adventure, the project features a 5.5 km trail that connects the local path to Hærvejen, enhancing the hiking experience with additional features. Along this extended trail, hikers will find a well-equipped campsite complete with shelters, bonfire areas, and picnic tables, providing ideal spots for rest and social gatherings. The trail meanders close to a lush forests, offering a serene environment rich with opportunities for wildlife sightings and moments of peaceful reflection.
Walking alongside a naturally meandering stream, hikers are treated to the soothing sounds of flowing water, adding to the trail’s tranquil atmosphere.
This transformative project has revitalized the area around the old inn into a vibrant landing pad, fostering community engagement and connection with nature.

From Vilsted to Hærvejen
The landing pad
Central to the landing pad is a communal vegetable garden where locals can grow various vegetables and edible plant species, promoting sustainable living and healthy eating. Adjacent to one of the historic buildings, a large greenhouse has been constructed, offering versatile space for either a shop or the cultivation of greenhouse plants, enriching the area's agricultural potential.

The landing pad is thoughtfully designed to encourage social interaction and relaxation.
It features tables and benches, along with large planters filled with wildflowers, adding bursts of color and natural beauty. Benches attached to these planters provide additional seating, creating a welcoming environment where people can gather, share experiences, and enjoy the scenic views.
This project not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area but also strengthens community bonds through shared activities and spaces.
